A little about me

My Specialisations

I am a genealogist and local and family historian. I mainly use Ancestry and Wikitree. I have researched hundreds of Wiltshire families, specialising in the Edwardian and post-Edwardian eras and WW1 soldiers. I am a member of the Society for One-Place Studies, and the Family and Community Historical Research Society.

I have worked professionally in archives, including several contracts for the Royal Voluntary Service Archives.

I am a canal heritage enthusiast and I run a Canalside Property website.

I’ve played the violin since the age of seven, and I am a qualified Suzuki Violin Teacher. I had never played a single note on a brass instrument until November 2019, when I started to learn the euphonium (I am sharing my progress on YouTube).

My books include the series ‘Wootton Bassett 100 Years Ago’, and the ‘Family History Record Book’. I am currently writing a book about another of my passions, the history of teasmades.

In 2019 I launched Twiggli Family Trees. You can read more about it on these pages.
